The
Great Race Car Adventure This program is designed for an indoor or outdoor
car building and race scenario for large groups. We do not use real engines,
as the group must ingeniously create their team engine using people power.
This Race Car incorporates much more advanced team dyanmics efforts.
First
of all we want to supply a variety of materials that will allow for easy
alterations for different styles of designs, with the idea being that
there would be an award to originality as regards the type of the vehicle
built. Second, we do not want to have the race just be a ‘brute force’
muscle race with several people pushing the race vehicle. This has the
potential to be kind of dangerous and is only reliant on muscle. We want
to have a race that incorporates everybody using not just their muscles
but also their teamwork dynamic capabilities. The idea is that while it
is still a race we slow it down a bit and use an “propulsion system” that
has everybody working together, not just the driver.
The
car is built on a platform that is several inches off the ground. The
group must work out and test a system that has them feeding tennis balls
under the front off the car and as the car is sliding over the balls,
taking them out the back and setting up a system that re-feeds them to
the front again. The car itself is moved by one person pulling the car
from the front. If that person moves too fast the car will slide off the
balls and get stuck. That person must work with the people that are coordinating
the engine system.
So
this program has a three part dynamic. First is the construction of the
race vehicle. Second is the testing and practicing of the ‘team’ propulsion
system. Third is the actually race which can be done in several heats.
The winner from each heat will be in the final race for first, second
and third.
The
Great Race Car Adventure will be the most talked about and laughed about
program of your company. The real success will be the increase in relationship
building and genuine camaraderie among your staff.
