Pirates!

Pirates!

A water-based team adventure challenge

Sure they can be mean and have rotting teeth, but they do drink a lot of rum and have some neat tattoos.   Pirates, the team adventure game, can be done near a water source such as lake, bay, beach, etc.  Yeah, there is gold involved and any pirate worth his salt would rather steal it than actually work for it. The gold is buried under water. Your bravado band of cutthroats will need to build a seaworthy raft and head out to find and pull up the gold.

Ah, were it ever so easy, where would the fun lie?  Limited raft materials make the craft itself a worthy challenge to build. No high tech tools, only rope, large floats, and a few other goodies.  Can you get your team on the raft floating and paddling. No body parts can be in the water due to shark infestation while you are rafting.  Is your team paddling in unison or are they still hung over from all that rum the night before.

By remembering senior Pirate Policy: “the floggings will continue until morale improves” you finally get the cutthroats paddling in unison.  Then the cannon fire starts with incoming fire from water cannons. Now the trouble really gets started. Fortunately, some of your team is on the ball and is putting other PIRATE teams under siege.  Direct hits cause dismemberment and those people are no longer in the game and on the express train to Davey Jones locker. Game over for them. The team may have to paddle back and grab another mate from your band.

Get that gold and get back. Bragging rights, booty and rum are at stake.

A planning phase will give teams a chance to discuss their vision and come to some consensus on who is doing what and creating their strategy. All pirate teams will get bandanas and body paint to create their own pirate ‘tribe’ look. The first challenge is the Calculator Challenge, which will enable groups to secure equipment to make their cannon balls as well as instructions for building their rafts. The second challenge is the Blind Treasure Hunt, which will enable teams to get their raft materials.

Building rafts and catapults, as well as paddling, pulling up gold, firing on other ships is a lot of non-stop and highly engaging team activity.  Ridiculous amounts of fun are in store for aspiring PIRATES.
